Neocortex Robotics, Inc. is an American software company based in Nashville, Tennessee that develops Physical AI software for warehouse automation. Its software lets commercially available industrial robots perform materials handling work — piece and case picking, inspection, pallet sortation and mixed-product palletizing — inside warehouses that are already operating. It is sold as Robotics as a Service: the customer buys the robots and licenses the software. The company was chartered in 2021 and previously did business as Universal Logic.

Where the thinking came from
Our co-founder came out of robotics research at Vanderbilt University conducted with NASA's Robonaut programme. That work shaped how we think about machine perception. The platform itself we wrote ourselves, from scratch.

What we own
Perception, planning, motion control and learning were all built by our own engineering team. The company owns the platform intellectual property outright.

Joe Mohen
Founded four technology and media companies, including Proginet Corporation, which he took public and in which he secured an equity investment from Microsoft before its sale to Tipco; Election.com, which secured an equity investment from VeriSign and Accenture; and ParishPay, later WeShare, sold to LPi. He secured the first free-to-consumer licenses from the major record labels and music publishers, including Universal Music Group, and led the private equity buyout of Nylon Magazine. He serves on the boards of Holographic Amusements and Global News Systems.
David Peters
Co-founder of the company, initially serving as Chief Executive Officer and more recently as Chief Operating Officer. Before founding the company he worked in warehouse robotics and automation for twelve years. He has participated in industry forums including the World Economic Forum Subcommittee on AI and Robotics and the NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference, and has served as Chair of Engineering Business Advisors at Nashville STEM High School.
Nick Buchta
Leads deployments, project execution and infrastructure, with more than a decade in program management. BS in Civil Engineering, University of Pittsburgh.
Goutham Mallapragada, PhD
An AI, machine learning and robotics executive with more than fifteen years building automation systems and taking them to scale. He has led multidisciplinary teams delivering multi-million-dollar AI products and more than eighty robot deployments, working in computer vision, path planning and intelligent automation. PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Penn State.

A long record in a young field
Robotics Business Review records the company as the first to use 3D industrial vision commercially, the first to demonstrate real-time reactive control of an industrial robot, and the first to synthesise vision, robot actuation and artificial intelligence for industrial purposes.
